We’ve always known we hold an unfair advantage over most leaders out there.

The Unfair Advantage:

It’s our access to a multitude of organization builders:

  • The challenges they face and the way their leadership teams adapt
  • The critical decisions they make
  • The quirky experiments they conduct with teams,

      and much more…

Over the last few years, we’ve had the privilege of collaborating with 100+ organization builders across the country. We’ve learned abundantly and filled our diary with notes, and we believe you’ll greatly benefit from them. So here we are, presenting you with CHAPTER 1 from our diary – personal notes exclusively for you. We wanted to kick off this sharing with a small leadership experiment we conducted with a team last month.

Let’s dive right in.

The Problem:

The firm is in a growth phase, which brings along its set of challenges:

  • Different business units and teams are operating in silos.
  • They want to preserve their cultural DNA as they expand.
  • There’s a need to develop a pipeline of emerging leaders at the firm.

Overall they wanted to move from a Traditional 1.0 version —-> Fluid 2.0 version.

What did we do?

Each year end their leadership team comes togetherin a five star resort for a ‘Retreat’.

Here they Discuss > Discuss > Discuss about the plans, go back to the office and execute.

We had other plans, we swapped these 2 things:

  1. RESORT with Padukone Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence
  2. Discuss > Discuss > Discuss with Observe > Play > Learn > Act

So, over the three days, this team moved across three zones.

  1. Speed Zones: They played sports together – football, basketball, cricket, and more. They observed and interacted with world-class athletes and coaches in action. Play proved to be a great leveller.
  2. Stillness Zones: Through powerful and challenging facilitation, they stepped back to connect on-the-field experience to their in-the-cubicle experience.
  3. Maker Zones: The team walked away with their own playbook of workplace rituals and practices for Winning Together.

How did it impact the team?

“It was truly an unforgettable experience. Time flew by, leaving me with lasting memories of meaningful conversations, precious moments and valuable insights. It's something words can't fully capture - you have to experience it firsthand to appreciate its unique and profound impact.”

- Feedback from Vertical Head 1

“This event brilliantly showcased how sports principles like teamwork, focus, collaboration, and effective communication are essential to successful leadership. Just as every player is vital to a team's victory in sports, every team member in a leadership role is crucial in achieving collective goals.”
